Once upon a time there were no such thing as YouTube , Soundcloud and Sportify. You were lucky if you had a radio in the house and then your parents were the one who decided what station was on and what music you should listen to. To hear your own tunes you needed to go outside of the house to a public place where there was a jukebox and for a dime  the machine  played every tune you liked. Something like YouTube on location without the motion pictures.
